              FRESH PERSPECTIVES
The New Year is a time to think about new beginnings, just looking at things in a different way, or try something new.  Many children's books use this theme to help the listener consider new ways of seeing familiar people, places, and things.

4 Voices  by Browne:  Takes place in a park where you listen to 4 different points of view on the same incident.

Three by the Sea  by  Grey:  Three friends because of a disruptive stranger break out their ruts and old routines

Ten Birds  by  Young:  On the surface seems to be a concept bok on counting but really is a story about problem solving and thinking outside the box.

Dumpster Diver  by Wong:  A gang of kids and one adult work together to find ways to repurpose the cast-offs in their neighborhood.

Mirror Mirror  by  Singer:  14 pairs of poems from two points of view with each pair comprised of the same lines in opposite order.

Who Stole Mona Lisa?  by Knapp:  This is the history of DeVinci's famouse painting told in the voice of the Mona Lisa.

There is a new e-book series aimed to getting children reading the classics.  Booksufers adventure series created by Amazon Kindle for children ages 9-12.  The books follow a group of children who are kidnapped and forced to jump into classic to steal famous fictional artifacts.
